Fun Lesson Activity about The Whitetail Deer
This game will involve the children acting as whitetail deer. First, tie a bunch of white and brown feathers together on a stick. This will symbolize the whitetail deer’s tail. Make enough tails for each child to have his or her own. Then, cut out antlers from tan construction paper, and attach them to a headband. Make enough for all of the boys to have one. For the first round of the game, choose a couple kids to be predators, such as wolves, mountain lions, or bears. All of the other children will be whitetail deers. Give all of the boys antlers to wear since they are bucks. The girls are does. Whenever one of the children senses danger, either by vision or hearing, tell them to raise their tail in the air. If the predator is close by, tell them to run away before they get caught. Once all of the deer reach safety or are caught, start a new game.
