Fun Lesson Activity about The Raccoon

Objective: This lesson is just an artsy fun project for students

Materials: Pictures of a raccoon for each student, some tin foil, a piece of string, and a shoebox

Instructions: Introduce the raccoon to students and ask them if they have ever seen one before. Ask the students if they know anything special about raccoons. Explain to the students that raccoon’s are nocturnal animals. Explain the meaning of nocturnal to the students. Also explain that raccoon’s are very attracted to shiny objects. Have the students color their raccoons. Then have them glue the picture of the raccoon in the back of the shoebox. With the tin foil, make a ball and tie the string to the ball. Then put a hole in the show box so that you can hang the ball of tin foil in front out of the picture of the raccoon. Then put the lid on the shoebox and put a hole in the side for light to shine in on their raccoons. It would be cool to add some glow-in-the-dark stickers too if it is within the budget.
