Fun Lesson Activity about The Marabou Stork
To make a marabou stork, first, give all of the children a large sheet of construction paper and a pencil. Show them what a marabou stork looks like, and then, have them draw an outline of a marabou stork’s head and body separately and cut them out. Then, have them cut out a long rectangular piece for the neck and attach the head and body with it. Give each child two long pieces of yarn, and tell them to attach them to the body of the marabou stork as the long legs. Next, have them draw and cut out a long beak from construction paper. Once they are all done putting together their marabou stork, let them draw on its face and attach white, black, brown, or gray feathers onto the body of their marabou stork. Tell the children about the type of prey that marabou storks hunt, such as lizards, fish, and frogs. Ask them to draw a picture of one of these for their marabou stork to eat.
