Fun Lesson Activity about The Golden Eagle

This activity will let kids compare the wingspan of a golden eagle to their arm span. On a long sheet of white paper, draw a golden eagle with its wings spread out. Make the wingspan between six and seven feet wide. Hang the drawing of the golden eagle on a wall at a child’s level. Then, give every child a handful of feathers that are marbled, brown, tan, or white. Ask each child to tape their feathers to the golden eagle’s wings. Once the wings are covered with feathers, explain to the children that golden eagles have very strong wings and wide wingspans. One at a time, ask the children to stand in front of the golden eagle with their arms outstretched. Ask them if their arm span is smaller or bigger than the eagle’s wingspan and by how much they think. Then, measure each child’s arm span to compare how much bigger the golden eagle’s wingspan is.
