Fun Lesson Activity about The Tui
This activity is a simple and fun way for the children to learn some basic facts about tuis. First, give each child a black and white map of the world. Also, give them some markers, and then, tell them to color in New Zealand, which is where tuis are from. Next, give all of the children sheets of colored tissue paper. Show the children, step-by-step, how to use the tissue paper to make a flower. Give each child a green pipe cleaner as well for the stem. Once all of the children are finished making their flower, explain how tui birds eat nectar from flowers. Then, have all of the children sing some songs,and explain to them how tui birds like to also sing songs. After, encourage all of the children to share and demonstrate one fact that they learned about tuis with someone a parent or one of their friends.
