Fun Lesson Activity about The Mara
This activity is a fun way for all of the kids to learn a few facts about mara’s while getting some fun outside. First, cut out long, medium width slits of paper. Make enough for each child to have his or her own. Then, give all of the children a sheet of tan construction paper and scissors. Show them how to cut out large ears for the mara. Next, have them glue or tape on the ears to the slit of paper. Help the children to tape the ears around their head like a headband. Once all of the children have finished their mara ears, take them all outside to play. Explain how maras will walk, jump, and gallop on all four of their short legs. Also, tell them that maras are herbivores and only eat foods such as grasses and fruit. Then, tell them to run around like maras and gather food for themselves.
