Fun Lesson Activity about The Flamingo
Objective: To learn interesting facts about flamingos.
Materials: A picture of a flamingo for each student.
Instructions: Introduce the flamingo to the students and explain that the flamingo is a wading bird. This means it spends a lot of time standing water and eating plants in the water (algae). Also tell the students that a unique feature of flamingos is that they stand on one leg for long periods of time (sometimes several hours). Have the students color their flamingos after having seen a picture of the animal. Then bring the students up front and have a competition to see which student can stand the longest amount of time on one leg only.
