Fun Lesson Activity about The Chameleon
This activity is a fun way for the children to learn about chameleons. First, draw and color different environments where a chameleon may be found. These could include leafy environments or dirt. Hang these up the walls around the room. Then, give each child several sheets of construction paper that are different colors. Include a white sheet. Show them a picture of a chameleon, and then, ask them to draw their own chameleon on the white sheet of paper. Next, have them cut out the body of their chameleon on all of their sheets of construction paper. Once all of the children have finished their activity, ask them to cut out their chameleon from the white paper. Then, give them pieces of tape and have them go around to the different environments and tape on the colored body that will best help their chameleon blend into its surroundings. Ask the children what they think chameleons use their camouflage for. Explain to them how the colors help them hide from predators and can also indicate their mood.
