Fun Lesson Activity about The Catfish
This fun activity will teach kids some basic facts about catfish and allow them to bring out their creative side. First, lay down two separate sheets of blue paper on the floor. Label one “saltwater” and the other one “freshwater.” Then, give each child a sheet of paper, and have them draw the body of a catfish and color it. Give them small pieces of string to glue on as whiskers. When they do this, ask them if they know what a catfish uses its whiskers for. Then, explain to them how a catfish uses their whiskers to feel things around them and smell things, such as prey. Once the children are done with their catfish, tell them to cut it out and place their catfish in either the saltwater or the freshwater on the floor. Explain to all of the children how this demonstrates that there are catfish that live in the saltwater of the ocean as well as in the freshwater of lakes.
