First, print out and show the kids pictures of freshwater angelfish. Ask them to draw, color, and cut out their own angelfish. Next, cut out wavy strips of green construction paper. These will be seaweed. Cut out rocks from various colors. Also, draw and cut out other colorful objects, such a treasure boxes. Next, gather enough boxes for each child to have their own. Cut off the top or side of the box to create a large opening. Completely cover the inside of the box with blue construction paper. This will be the inside of the fish tank. Give each child a box and make sure the opening faces to the side, toward them. Explain to the children that they will decorate their fish tanks for their pet angelfish using the pieces you cut out. If they think of something they want to add to their tank, let them create it themselves. Once each child finishes decorating, let them hang their angelfish inside their tank. Then, ask them to show the other kids the tank they created for their pet angelfish and share its name.
