Fun Lesson Activity about The Armadillo

To make an armadillo, first, gather enough empty water bottles for each child to have his or her own. Then, cut out a rounded rectangle from brown construction paper that will fit over the length and width of the bottle. This will be the body of the armadillo. Also, roll up a piece of brown construction paper to make a small cone as the armadillo’s face and nose. Give each child an empty water bottle, a body, and a face/nose. Provide the children with a picture of an armadillo, and ask them to color the body to look like an armadillo. Then, have the children lay the body over the sides of the water bottle. The face/nose can be colored and then attached at the tip of the water bottle. Next, ask them to draw and cut out a tail for their armadillo. Have them glue it at the end of the body. Once all of the children finish creating their armadillo, share a few fun facts about them. For example, they eat ants, fire ants, and termites with their long and sticky tongues.
