Fun Lesson Activity about The Walrus
Objective: This objective of this lesson is for students to make paper walrus masks that they can wear.
Materials: Paper, and a rubber band for each student
Instructions: Show the students a picture of a walrus and ask them what is the most interesting feature of a walrus. When they say the tusks, explain that the tusks are for mating purposes and that female walruses are attracted to male walruses with really big tusks. Have the students draw a picture of just a walruses face. Have them color the picture and then cut out the face including the tusks and holes where the eyes are. Then have them cut the rubber bands and attach one end to either side of the mask so that the students can put on the masks. Then have the girls line up on one side of the room and the boys on the other side with all the students wearing their masks. Have the girls select which Guy walrus mask they thing is the most attractive and have the boys do the same.
