Fun Lesson Activity about The Tarantula
To make a tarantula, first, gather large cotton balls and enough pipe cleaners for each child to have eight. Give each child a cotton ball and eight pipe cleaners. Also, give them googly eyes to glue onto their spider. Then, show them how to wrap the pipe cleaners around the large cotton ball to resemble the legs of the tarantula. Have them also glue on the eyes. Once they finish making their tarantula, share a few fun facts about tarantulas with them. For example, the hairs that cover their body have sharp ends that the tarantula can shoot out at predators when they are being attacked or are in danger. Or they use their fangs to dig holes under the ground, which is where they live. Or they use silk to make their homes. Encourage all of the children to go home and share what they learned with their friends and family.
