Fun Lesson Activity about The Otocryptis
To make an otocryptis, first, collect enough brown popsicle sticks for all of the children to have their own. Give each child a popsicle stick and five brown pipe cleaners. Then, have them draw eyes on one end of the popsicle stick. Give them a small sheet of red construction paper so they can draw, cut out, and glue on a tongue for their octocryptis. Show them how to use the pipe cleaners to wrapzz around the stick as the four legs of the otocryptis and the tail. As they put on the tail, share a few facts about it. For example, octocryptis’ are also known as brown patched kangaroo lizards, and their habitat is found in the wet forests of Sri Lanka. Also, share some pictures of what octocryptis’ look like. At the end, let all of the children show their octocryptis that they made to the other children.
