Fun Lesson Activity about The Grizzly Bear
Objective: To illustrate how Grizzly bears catch fish
Materials: Youtube video of a grizzly bear catching fish as they jump out of the water, a bag of Swedish fish candy
Instructions: Show the students the video of the Grizzly bear catching fish and explain that these bears a very intelligent because of how they fish. As fish migrate upriver to lay their eggs, they need to jump out of the water at times to clear small waterfalls. Grizzly bears will perch at these waterfalls and catch the fish as they are swimming upriver. No explain that the students are going to practice catching the Swedish Fish in their mouths. Give each student 5 Swedish fish and put the students in pairs. Have them stand 10 feet apart from each other and then have the toss the Swedish fish in the air for the other student to catch in their mouths. The student that can get the highest percentage of catches wins.
