Fun Lesson Activity about The Coconut Crab
Take all of the kids outside for a learning game about coconut crabs. Once outside, ask them about where they think coconut crabs live. Tell the children a little bit about coconut crabs, specifically that they can crush coconuts with their claws, and they can grow to be a few feet big. Ask the children what kind of things they can crush with their bare hands and how tall they are compared to a coconut crab. Also, explain to them that the coconut crab may climb palm trees in order to get coconuts so they can break it open and eat the meat from it. Once they learn these few, quick things, have all of the children pretend to be coconut crabs. Have them play and act like coconut crabs. For example, give them things to crush, such as cans, paper, or sticks. Also, let them climb around on things to find food. they could be pretending to eat plants.
