Fun Lesson Activity about The Ladybug
Objective: The objective of this lesson would be to practice calculating averages for things. This is a perfect lesson to use in a math class. It is assumed that students can add, multiply, subtract, and divide. Material: Per student: 5 images of ladybugs without any spots. 40 small black circle stickers.
Instructions: Each student is initially required to color their ladybugs. They then receive the 40 black stickers and are told to place the stickers on their ladybugs. They need to use all the stickers and but they don’t need to place them equally on all the ladybugs. It is also important not to tell them how many stickers they receive. When the students are finished they will be asked to find the average amount of spots per ladybug. The method to find this will be to add all the spots of all the ladybugs and then divide by the number of ladybugs. This is a perfect lesson to introduce finding the average of something.
