Fun Lesson Activity about The Tortoise
To make a turtle, first, gather small boxes and construction paper. Give each child his or her own box and a sheet of construction paper. Show all of the children a picture of a tortoise, so they known what one looks like. Then, tell them to color the box to look like a tortoise’s shell. Once they do this, ask them to draw, color, and cut out a head, legs and a tail for their tortoise. Show them how to glue or tape them under the box to make it look like a tortoise. Make sure to tell them to draw scales on the tortoise’s arms and legs to resemble a real tortoise. After all of the children are done, share a few fun facts about tortoises, such as they hide in their shell to hide or protect themselves from predators. Then, one at a time, let all of the children show everyone their tortoise. Challenge them to share their favorite fact that they learned.
