Fun Lesson Activity about The Salmon
Give each child a piece of paper, and ask them to draw, color, and cut out a salmon. While they do this, draw and cut out additional salmon. Lay out three large pieces of blue paper on the floor to mimic water. Label one “Atlantic Ocean,” another “Pacific Ocean,” and one “Great Lakes.” Explain to the children that these are where Salmon are found. Once all of the salmon are cut out, attach a paper clip to each one. Then, tie a string on one end of a small wooden stick, and attach a magnet to the other end of the string. This will be a fishing pole. Make enough for each child to have his or her own. Next, split the children into three groups, and have them stand next to their designated body of water. Ask each group to work together to catch salmon using their fishing poles. When the time is up, ask each group to share how many salmon they were able to catch.
