Fun Lesson Activity about The Puffer Fish
To make a puffer fish, first, give each child a balloon. Have them slightly blow up their balloon so they can use a marker to draw eyes, a mouth, and spikes on it. This will be their “puffer fish.” Cut out small fins, and let the children tape them to the side of their balloon, or “puffer fish.” Draw a few predators of puffer fish, such as other large fish and sharks, on separate pieces of paper. Pick a few children to hold the paper and be a predator. The other children will carry around their deflated balloon. Ask all of the children to wander around the room. If a puffer fish encounters a predator, then the child should blow their balloon up so their puffer fish is showing its spikes, which will deter the predator. However, if a child encounters a shark, the shark should eat the puffer fish because sharks are unharmed by the puffer fish toxins.
