Fun Lesson Activity about The Platypus
Platypus can be found on the Australian coast and once you see one you are sure not to forget it. The animal is a mix between a duck, beaver, and otter. They spend most of their time in the water and have webbed feet for paddling while their back feet and tail help them steer. While this animal is an interesting mix of more familiar animals, you can help students begin to think about words in the same way. Compound words are two shorter familiar words combined together. Have students begin to create a list of examples to share with the class. Once everyone has shared their ideas see how many new words you can make by working together.
