Fun Lesson Activity about The Pigeon
This fun and interactive game will teach kids some interesting facts about pigeons. First, get two sealed envelopes. Then, set up a race area in a large room or outside. Label and decorate different sections according to the various environments that pigeons live in. For example, grasslands, mountainous areas, deserts, and rainforests are all places pigeons live. At the end of the race area, put two baskets. Split all of the children into two teams. Have one child from each team go through the obstacle course at a time. Give each child an envelope, and tell them that they are pigeons who have to deliver the mail to their basket as fast as they can. As they run through all of the different environments, have them flap their arms as fast as they can to act like a pigeon. Once each child gets a turn, explain how pigeons used to be used to carry mail during war, can flap their wings very fast, and live in a wide variety of different areas.
