Fun Lesson Activity about The Oil Beetle
This is a quick and fun activity for kids to learn a few fun facts about oil beetles. First, give each child a black and white map of the world and markers. Ask them to color in Britain, which is where most oil beetles are found. Then, give them a white sheet of construction paper, blue and black glossy paper, and scissors. Show them pictures of what oil beetles look like, and then, ask them to draw their own oil beetle on the white paper. Have them use the blue and black glossy paper to cut out the shape of the oil beetle and glue it on the white paper. Next, tell all of the kids to draw a bee on their paper with the oil beetle. Explain that oil beetles lay eggs, and when the eggs hatch and become larvae, they feed on bees. Then the larvae become adults. Let the children draw out the life cycle of an oil beetle on their paper if they want to.
