Fun Lesson Activity about The Ocelot
Ask students to brainstorm a list of animals that may live in the trees. Would one of these animals include a cat? While cats are good at climbing sometimes they can have trouble getting back down. Luckily this is not a problem for the Ocelot. They live in the canopies of South America or in Central American brush lands and go after monkeys or birds. These cats hunt at night and may go after other prey including rodents, lizards, and rabbits. Ocelots are also known for their spotted coat and are usually larger than most house cats. While coloring have your student count the spots on an Ocelot. Or cut out small pieces of felt. Students can glue these pieces onto the spots already on the Ocelot. While they are gluing they can practice counting the pieces.
