Fun Lesson Activity about The Komodo Dragon
This activity will teach kids a few facts about komodo dragons and allow them to use their creative skills to draw their own komodo dragon. First, on the top half of a sheet of paper, write a few fill-in-the-blank sentences that are facts about komodo dragons. For example, “Komodo dragons are the [blank] lizards on Earth.” The answer to the blank would be “largest” or “heaviest.” Another fact that could be written is, “Komodo dragons can grow up to [blank] feet and weigh [blank] pounds.” Once the fill-in-the-blank sentences are completed, make enough copies for each child to have his or her own. Then, give each child a copy and a pencil. Read the sentences out loud, and ask the children if any of them know the answers to the blanks before you provide the answer to them. Have them write the correct answer in the blank on their sheet of paper. Once they finish, give them markers, and ask them to draw their own komodo dragon on the bottom half of the sheet.
