This activity involves the children putting together different parts of a cuttlefish together to learn about them. First, draw and cut out various parts of a cuttlefish from construction paper. Cut the head/body, eight arms, three hearts, and a ring-shaped brain out separately. Make enough for each child to have their own set of cuttlefish parts. Then, give each child a piece of construction paper and cuttlefish pieces. Tell them to put their cuttlefish together beginning with the body/head and arms. Then, tell them to glue their ring-shaped brain onto their cuttlefish as well as the three hearts. Tell them how this shows the internal parts of a cuttlefish. Once all of the children are finished putting together their cuttlefish, give them each a squirt toy filled with water. Hold up pictures of marine animals. Some should be prey of cuttlefish and others should be predators. Whenever a picture of a predator is shown, tell the kids to squirt their toy. This represents how cuttlefish shoot ink when they are in danger.
