Fun Lesson Activity about The Cuckoo
This is a great interactive game for all of the kids to learn about cuckoo birds. First, tell all of the children that they are going to pretend to be cuckoo birds. On separate sheets of paper, write “Europe,” “Africa,” “Asia,” “Australia,” and “Africa.” Tape each sheet of paper around the room. Tell all of the children to stand in any area except Africa. Once they find a place, explain to them that this is where cuckoo birds live during warm weather. Then, tell all of the children about the cuck-oo sounds that a cuckoo bird makes, and have them imitate their best impression of a cuckoo bird. Then, tell all of the children to “fly,” or migrate, to the area labeled as “Africa.” Explain to them that cuckoos stay here until the weather warms up. Also, tell them how cuckoo birds don’t sing while they are staying in Africa.
