Fun Lesson Activity about The Cougar
Ask students to brainstorm a list of the big cats they know. Some of these could include lions, tigers, and cheetahs. Have them notice how many of these cats come from the jungle or savanna. The cougar is one of the few big cats that roams in the mountains of North and South America. These cats are usually solitary animals and are rarely seen by humans. They typically hunt at night and their prey include deer, coyotes, and raccoons. Cougars are great hunters, so have your students become great word hunters. Use the list students created earlier and put it into a word search.
