Fun Lesson Activity about The Bonobo
To make a bonobo face, first gather enough paper plates for each child to have his or her own. Then, give each child a paper plate, markers, and construction paper. Tell them to draw and color a bonobo face onto their paper plate. Have them cut out ears from the construction paper and glue them to the sides of the paper plate. They can also cut out and glue on the bonobo’s eyes and nose if they do not want to draw them on. Also, share a few additional facts about bonobos, such as they are also known as dwarf chimpanzees, they live in the rainforests of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and they can communicate and understand language. As an extra activity, give all of the children a sheet of construction, and ask them to draw, color, and cut out a source of food for a bonobo, such as fruit, seeds, and insects.
