Fun Lesson Activity about The Antelope
To make an antelope headband, give each child a headband and several brown pipe cleaners. Tell the children to wrap one end of the pipe cleaners to the headband to make antlers. They can double or triple their pipe cleaners if they want to make their antlers thicker. They can also attach pipe cleaners together to make their antlers longer. Once they have attached two antlers, ask them to shape their antlers however they want. They can be straight, curved, spiral, or twisted. After each child has finished shaping their antlers, have them put on their headbands so they can be an antelope. Let the children walk around and look at the different shapes, widths, and lengths of the other antlers. While the children walk around and look at the antlers, have them introduce themselves to the other antelopes. For example, a female child would say, “Hi, my name is [their name], and I am a doe.” A male child would say, “Hi, my name is [their name], and I am a buck.”
