The agouti is a rodent, similar to a guinea pig that lives in Central and South America. They are shy animals that hide in hollow tree trunks or burrows when they feel threatened. Have students think of the differences between prey and predator. Since the agouti is a small animal would it be easier for the animal to hide from others or to try and fight? What are common characteristics of the prey and the predators? The agouti have other adaptations that help them survive since they are normally prey.
